Manuscript Submissions

The three one-on-one critiques (15 minutes each) are available until May 16.  Check out the Silent Auction for other possible options (details forthcoming in May 2018).

Extended critiques (one hour) go quickly so if you are interested, register early.

The regular deadline for receipt of manuscripts is May 16, 2018. If you are sending in a manuscript after that date, we need ASAP to guarantee a reading.

If you have missed the manuscript critique deadlines, check out the Silent Auction offerings, for additional critique opportunities at the conference.

Please Read ALL of the guidelines for manuscript submissions and requests for readers before opting for critiques and before submitting your manuscript. Critiques are not available unless you have registered for the conference.

Manuscripts critiques have always been an important part of the Jackson Hole Writers Conference. The total number of three one-on-one critiques is limited to the first 100 people who sign up. You will receive one-on-one feedback about your work from three different faculty members. One of those three faculty members can be an editor OR an agent, but not both. If you are submitting a poetry manuscript, you cannot have an editor OR an agent read your manuscript. Not all faculty do critiques (read below).

Once you send your manuscript in, please note that there is an additional surcharge for re-sending pages or the whole manuscript. The surcharge for revised pages is $25.

Please read the manuscript guidelines completely. The same manuscript is read by all three of the short critique readers. So please do not send three different manuscripts.

Should you decide later, after the manuscript deadline of May 16, that you would like the short one-on-one critiques, this may be arranged by calling or writing by June 1, 2018.  However, between May 16-June 1, short critiques will cost $75 and and you will only receive TWO critiques instead of three. As of that cut-off date, you will not be eligible to have an editor or agent read the manuscripts.  If our quota of 100 critiques has been reached, this option will NOT be available. Please use the Contact form to reach us or call 307-413-4096.

EXTENDED CRITIQUES: The option for an extended critique for an additional $125 is limited. You must have paid for the conference and for the three one-on-one critiques (only register for one set, total $50) before you can apply for the extended critique. Extended critiques go quickly every year, so early registration is key to obtaining a longer critique. A total of twenty extended critique sessions are available. Editors and agents do not do extended critiques.

We prefer to have manuscripts submitted as Word document attachments via email, but we do accept paper manuscripts via the mail. We must receive the manuscript by the cut-off date. It may be difficult to get the manuscript to us on time and to the readers if they do not live in Jackson. See below for details on submission requirements and deadlines. Please read them fully before submitting.

Not ALL of the faculty read manuscripts. Featured speakers and guest authors generally do no critiques. If you are hoping to have a particular writer read your manuscript, please sign up early and Contact us.

Please read the following guidelines closely before submitting your manuscript. It will make getting the manuscripts to the writer, editor or agent who is critiquing your manuscript much smoother. If the manuscript is longer than required, we will make the cuts, not you.
