About Jackson Hole

In northwestern Wyoming, nestled against the Grand Teton Mountains just south of Yellowstone’s wonders, Jackson Hole is a captivating spot. Centuries ago it was a rendezvous site for fur-traders, but today the mountain men – and women – climb mountains, fish in clear streams, and enjoy winter’s snow carnival as well as summer’s high mountain sunshine.

Viewing wildlife in their native habit is easy here, with elk, trumpeter swans, moose, and bighorn sheep living nearby. The weather in late June can be unpredictable; expect the occasional late afternoon thunderstorm. Highs are generally in the 70s, with chilly evenings in the 40s and 50s. Sunshine at 6000 feet altitude is intense, warming – and sometimes sun-burning -- you quickly.

The Jackson Hole Airport brings you right into Grand Teton National Park where the peaks rise dramatically from the sagebrush plain. Air service from American, Delta, United, and smaller carriers is frequent. A day trip north to Yellowstone National Park is a must, with geological wonders like geysers and mineral pools, and home to grazing buffalo, grizzly bear, and the gray wolf.

Whether your visit includes a hike in the mountains or a trip to the day spa, the town of Jackson makes it all convenient and enjoyable. With western boardwalks and art galleries, four-star restaurants and cozy coffee shops, rodeo and gunfights, Jackson is a unique experience, both down-home Wyoming and upscale resort. The Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at Teton Village just outside of town is bustling both summer and winter with luxury accommodations and gourmet dining.

Activities are abundant: from camping to hot air ballooning, boating to bird-watching, horseback riding to backpacking, fly-fishing to white water rafting.

Jackson Hole is a playground – and you’re invited to play.
